Low-Carb Research Study Seeking Applications

A new study to be conducted by the Tempe, Arizona-based Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences (SCNM) on the effectiveness of the low-carb lifestyle is currently looking for participants.

If you are between the ages of 40-64 and are willing to commit to being on a low-carbohydrate diet for a three-month period, then you can sign up by calling 480-858-9643 ext. 5152 or e-mailing them at research@scnm.edu.

Sponsored by SCNM, Southwest College Research Institute and The Institute for Human Individuality, they will be examining the weight and heart health of the patients who are on a low-carb eating plan. Describing livin' la vida low-carb as being "at the forefront" in regards to dealing with the obesity problem in the United States, the researchers who will be conducting the study reveal that "when low-carb diets are strictly followed more evidence points towards successful weight loss and improvements in certain cardiovascular risk factors." The purpose of this study is to help provide further evidence to that well-researched notion.

Interestingly, another purpose of the study will be to look at various blood types to see if that has any bearing on the success or failure of low-carb programs. I'll be very interested in reading about this when the study has concluded.

If you are chosen to participate, then you will receive free information about following a low-carb diet, free physical exams, as well as free blood work both before and after the three-month study period.

What a great opportunity for someone who may be skeptical about the low-carb lifestyle to try it out for three months at no cost or obligation. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by the results of this study. As soon as it is released, you'll hear about it here.

Again, if you are between the ages of 40-64 and are willing to commit to being on a low-carbohydrate diet for a three-month period, then you can sign up by calling 480-858-9643 ext. 5152 or e-mailing them at research@scnm.edu.
