Spartanburg YMCA Backs 'Shrinkdown'
My YMCA is helping Spartanburg, SC residents "shrinkdown" in 2006
If you have read "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb," then you know I speak very highly of the work the YMCA does to help people get fit, lose weight, and live a healthy lifestyle.
My local YMCA in Spartanburg, SC is putting a special emphasis on helping people reach their weight loss and fitness goals in 2006 by sponsoring the Greater Spartanburg Shrinkdown.
It began today and will run through the beginning of March to encourage people to get active, lose weight and become healthy this year.
"Join us in 2006 and let the Shrinkdown be your New Year’s Resolution Solution. It’s FREE and an effective way to lose weight and become more physically fit – for a lifetime!"
What a GREAT opportunity for people to get excited about losing weight, be held accountable for their progress towards this goal, and to have a clear plan of action for getting there.
Over the eight weeks of the event, there will be healthy living awareness programs to help the obese understand and develop better habits in regards to their nutrition, exercise and overall health. There will also be weekly weigh-ins and counseling to help those who struggle. Finally, there will be a series of weekly lectures by health and medical professionals on topics relating to health and fitness.
A running total of the pounds lost by the participants will be posted in real-time at Greater Spartanburg Shrinkdown web site for everyone to see the progress of their fellow "losers."
If you live in the Spartanburg, SC are and want to participate, then visit your local YMCA or go to GreaterSpartanburgShrinkdown.com.
Look for opportunities like this in YOUR area to help you make exercise a part of your low-carb lifestyle.
