Dr. Jonny Bowden offers 9 surprising ways to lose weight

If you have read my blog for any length of time, then you know I am a HUGE fan of Dr. Jonny Bowden. He is arguably one of the top voices of reason in the world of weight loss today because he is unafraid to tell you what you need to hear and not just say what you want to hear when it comes to the all-important subject of weight loss. In other words, he keeps it real because he knows that will help you the most if you are struggling with being overweight or obese.

But as I quickly discovered while listening to the first of his three brand new 2-disc audio books today entitled the "9 Essential Steps To Weight Loss," his goal for people has very little to do with weight loss, but rather an even greater emphasis on experiencing life as it was intended. Sure, you'll find out how to lose weight in ways you never thought about before. And yet the overall lesson that Jonny expects you to learn is that life itself is worth living to the fullest.

I first introduced the Bowden trilogy to you during my exclusive interview with Dr. Jonny Bowden back in August. I finally had the chance to sit down and listen to this first set of CDs to evaluate and review them for myself. I literally cannot wait for you to listen to these amazingly inspiring and motivating audio messages for yourself. Jonny really outdid himself on this first one and I enthusiastically look forward to reviewing the other two in the series later this week.

If you have never heard Jonny Bowden speak, to me he sounds almost exactly like "American Top 40 Countdown" disc jockey Casey Kasem. I grew up in the 1980s listening to that famous voice every single week on the radio, so it was hard for me to not think about him while Jonny was speaking. Actually, I kept waiting for him to bust out with one of Kasem's signature lines like, "Jimmy, here's your special request and dedication." :D

All joking aside, Jonny has a golden voice that draws you in and compels you to listen to every word he has to say. He's very authoratative on the subject of diet and nutrition and he should be. He's been writing books, providing encouragement online, sharing advice on his popular weekly radio show and being the resident health expert in places like i-Village and eDiets for many years. Now he wants to impart those years of knowledge and wisdom to you.

In fact, this first set of CDs was actually created for eDiets by "America's Weight Loss Coach" to give people the 9 essential steps for guaranteed weight loss success. Yep, he said GUARANTEED! As someone who was able to lose over 180 pounds two years ago, I can personally attest to the importance of each one of these steps to my own weight loss success. I only wish I had this audio series while I was losing to validate what I was doing at the time. I guess I was lucky to figure these things out on my own.

The lessons learned in the "9 Essential Steps To Weight Loss" are ones that Jonny hopes will not only produce weight loss success for you, but also life-altering changes that will continue to happen for you many years after you have maintained your weight. In fact, before he even gets into the practical application of the steps to weight loss, Jonny challenges you to begin envisioning what success will look like to you with specific goals to achieve. Getting the right mindset right off the bat will be an important key to discovering the 9 essential steps to losing weight.

Don't expect Jonny to sugarcoat the truth for you because he refuses to cheapen his message by doing that. Instead, he asks you the hard questions like "Do you REALLY want to lose weight?" The answer seems obvious enough, but he quickly explains why it is okay to say NO to that question. Seriously! You also learn how all of your life is connected and that attempting to micromanage your weight loss without factoring in the rest of your life is next to impossible and not realistically feasible anyway.

I was especially pleased to hear Jonny discuss the important role of fat, vegetables, exercise, weight training, protein, carbohydrates, journaling, and mindless eating in this informative audio package. The details he provides, including statistics and research that support his claims, make this a must-have product for anyone desiring weight loss or who has a friend or loved one struggling with obesity.
