33 Audacious New Low-Carb Blogs For 2008

Blogs are just like jackrabbits! Just when you think you've counted them all, here come a whole bunch more for you to look at. I'm certainly not complaining about all the fantastic new low-carb diet and health blogs that have been birthed over this past year. It's a testimony to how strong livin' la vida low-carb still is as we begin 2008.

Check out the well over 100 blogs I have previously featured here at the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here and here. It thrills me to know that behind each of those blogs there are real people who are applying the healthy nutritional principles of low-carb living into their own lives to produce remarkable improvements in their weight and overall health. I'm excited to watch their progress, learn from their experiences, and continue following their lifelong journey to a better future. That's a major reason why I blog to see people transform themselves into what they were meant to be.

Today I have another 33 audacious new low-carb blogs just in time for 2008 to get you motivated and jazzed in your new commitment to living better the low-carb way. These are some of the ones I have discovered in recent weeks and I'm always happy to feature even more in future blog posts. If you see one I haven't listed at my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Links" blog, then please e-mail me the URL at livinlowcarbman@charter.net.

Visit these 33 blogs and bookmark your favorites! ENJOY!

1. BALD IS BEAUTIFUL!

A 48-year old Tennessean and self-described "big eater" named Scott has lost 140 pounds following a sugar-free/low-carb lifestyle after having weight loss surgery and his influence is rubbing off on his wife and even his young son RJ who has done a remarkable job of shedding the pounds. He's even got a recipe blog where he posted this recipe for a Mexican Style Chicken Kiev with only 3g carbohydrates. SWEET! You'll fall in love with the sincerity of this Southern gentleman as he continues down his own personal journey to better health.

2. ERIC EDBERG

Eric Edberg is a very talented cello player who has taken an interest in making beautiful music with the body he has been given by livin' la vida low-carb. Starting off at around 264 pounds at the beginning of October 2007, Eric whittled away about 35 pounds in two months. Not too shabby, Eric! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Keep reading his blog to follow his low-carb weight loss progress. And don't miss his music if you LOVE classical!

3. EZ-LOWCARB!

I have a lot of respect and admiration for the work and dedication to the low-carb lifestyle that 42-year old PJ from "The Divine Low-Carb" blog, who has lost 140 pounds following a low-carb plan, invests in this community. She works tirelessly to help provide information about low-carb living to the masses and this new project is no exception. She wanted to create a blog featuring some basic low-carb dishes to get started during the first two weeks, some advice from successful low-carbers on what to do and not do on this healthy lifestyle change, and an overall look at what livin' la vida low-carb is all about in bite-sized chunks. This is still a BIG work in progress and YOU are encouraged to add your two cents worth too. Anyone you know who is looking to start on low-carb should go look at this blog.

4. GOODBYE SUGAR

Yin Teing was shocked to learn how much sugar was destroying her health after reading a book about it last year. Now she's fully committed to saying goodbye to sugar for good and sharing her experiences with her readers. She still is stuck on eating a low-fat diet along with that sugar-free one, but she claims it is because of her gallbladder. I'm happy to see another example in the blogosphere of someone who realizes how damaging sugar is to weight and health.

5. MS. MUSCLES FITNESS BLOG

Female fitness advocacy gets a boost from Sheryl Blystone--aka Ms. Muscles! She talks about women partaking in resistance training and weight lifting to improve their flexibility, strength, and health in conjunction with sound dietary concepts to coincide with your healthy lifestyle. You ladies should take a peek at this blog if you are even remotely interested in this topic.

6. INSERT FUNNY NAME HERE

Verlin Henderson weighed in at an eye-popping 435 pounds in October 2007 when he decided to go on the Atkins low-carb diet. He once lost 50 pounds on Atkins back in 2001, but he didn't make it his permanent lifestyle change back then and gained it all back. Now he's devoted to this way of eating until he gets down to his ultimate goal of 180 pounds...and then for the rest of his life! As of January 20, 2008, he's down 67 pounds (WOO HOO!) although he's stuck in a bit of a stall right now. Keep at it, Verlin, and you'll get through this. My weight stalled for ten weeks in a row and then the floodgates opened back up. Keep your head held high and NEVER GIVE UP!!!

7. SISTERS LOSING WEIGHT

This blog is about two twenty-something sisters near 300 pounds a piece living in Boston and New York with two specific goals in mind: lose weight and run in a 5k race by August 2008! It's a HUGE task to undertake and I wish them nothing but success in this endeavor. One sister is doing a vegetarian/vegan diet and the other is doing Weight Watchers. Watch the progress of L. and A. as they push towards doing what may seem like the impossible come August.

8. PANTS-O-METER

This blog by a woman named Becky is just getting started, but looks to be a pretty good one based on this humorous first post. Hopefully we'll see more from Becky soon.

9. ON THE ROAD TO BECOMING A FORMER FAT GUY

Follow the escapades of a diabetic weight lifter trying to get fit and healthy following a low-carb dietary approach.

10. WEIGHT LOSS CENTRAL

A blog dedicated to the principles of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle through implementing both diet and exercise strategies to accomplish both.

11. SHARI AND JODI'S MILLION POUND MATCHUP

After sharing about "The Biggest Loser" Million Pound Matchup recently, two of my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Discussion" forum members Jodi and Shari have decided to start their own blog to chronicle their journey to contribute to the goal of Americans losing over one million pounds. They are doing an AMAZING job right now and I couldn't be prouder. KEEP IT UP SWATKINS AND QUEST4HEALTH!!! You're livin' la vida low-carb and lovin' it all the way. :D

12. KEITH CONNECTS THE DOTS

Like me, Keith stopped listening to all the so-called "health experts" and started following a dietary approach to living healthy that went against everything he had ever heard was good for him. Now he "connects the dots" and figures these "experts" aren't so smart after all. Welcome to the club, Keith!

13. CINDY & COLLEEN ARE THE BIGGEST LOSERS

Cindy from Buffalo, New York and Colleen from Wellington, Florida are also participating in "The Biggest Loser" Million Pound Matchup as the seek to lose nearly 100 pounds between them. In just a couple of weeks, they've already lost 16 pounds and over 4% of their starting weight. WAY TO GO, C&C! How about playing some C&C Music Factory and dance off the pounds to "Everybody Dance Now!" LOL! Keep it up gals and you're gonna be lookin' good in no time.

14. TOMORROW AND TOMORROW AND TOMORROW...

Miss Rancher and her husband Aaron have decided to start low-carbing as a way to be healthy. She has already experienced the benefits of eating this way and it certainly looks like Aaron has read Gary Taubes' Good Calories, Bad Calories. This couple is well on their way to being another low-carb success story out there in the great blogosphere.

15. BILLY'S LEAN BODY QUEST

November 13, 2006 will be a date that Billy will never forget. It was on that fateful day that he decided to become a "lean, mean" man for the first time in his life by getting his body fat as low as it can possibly go. A little over one year later, he's already approach single-digit body fat (if he hasn't already gotten there) and looks fantastic! You'll have to check out his blog to see him morph from fat to fit. GREAT JOB, Billy!

16. LOW-CARB NATION

Will has decided the HE is gonna be "The Biggest Loser" in 2008 and he's set to do it the low-carb way. Pushing 500 pounds when he began working towards this goal in late December, the weight is already pouring off of him like butter in a hot skillet. Follow Will as he has the potential to lose over 200 pounds this year and perhaps save his life from an early grave due to morbid obesity!

17. FOOD IS REMEDY, FOOD IS MEDICINE

Bob (The Traveller) looks at food as a means by which to heal the body and keep it healthy. If you are sick, then food can be the "remedy" for whatever ailment you have. We could use more people talking about food in this manner and I'm glad Bob is leading the way with this premise at his blog.

18. THE 2008 PROJECT: BELLYFATOLOGY

What is The 2008 Project: Bellyfatology? Simply put, it's one man's mission to sculpt his body back into the shape he had it in back in 2002. Bryan has specific goals in mind and hopes to challenge others to join him in his little experiment to encourage anyone to get into shape for the new year. Are you up to it? Drop Bryan an e-mail at bellyfatology@gmail.com and tell him you're ready to do it too!

19. MY ATKINS LIFE

Jaycee is a 31-year old from South Africa who is a fan of my YouTube videos. He started this new blog on January 1, 2008 to help chronicle his low-carb weight loss success story following the Atkins diet. Jaycee, you're gonna do great, my friend. Stick with it, follow it exactly as Dr. Atkins wrote it, and then KEEP doing it for the rest of your life. You're gonna do AWESOME!!!

20. HARPOON

A thought-provoking blog that heavily leans towards the low-carb point of view. From the About page, we learn the author of the blog lives in Asia. I'm sure there will be a lot shared about the cuisine in that country and how to eat low-carb anyway. I especially like this rant about ELEM (Eat Less Exercise More) that should have you cheering until you're hoarse! Gonna take a peek at this blog early and often.

21. ADVENTURES IN LOW CARB

If you are a low-carb recipe buff, then gamergirl has got you hooked up! These recipes of hers are delicious, nutritious and guaranteed to keep your low-carb lifestyle from EVER becoming boring.

22. THE SPARK OF REASON

Dr. Dave Dixon is a former physics researcher and South Beach Diet success story who has since entered into the world of software architecture. That's quite a leap, some may say, but the "spark" that drives him as a scientist still remains. Growing tired of the sloppy science that has become too commonplace in the health and nutrition arena, Dave hopes to counter the lazy research by sharing the facts he has learned through his many years of experience.

23. LOW-CARB DIABETIC RECIPES

Even more great low-carb recipes, including this No Flour Chocolate Cake, that are perfect for anyone who is diabetic or enjoying the healthy low-carb lifestyle. EAT UP! :)

Tiffany Ludwig is "winning the carb war" and sharing what she has learned about low-carb living along the way. Outstanding blog for the newbie and even us long-timers.

25. REAL WOMEN LIFT

The subtitle of this blog says it all: " Why Women Should Lift Weights To Change Their Body Forever!" Sound scary? Well, let Taylor Ryan ease your concerns as she shares about how weight lifting has changed her life for the better. 26. LOW-CARB AND LOSING IT...

Excited only partially describes cc1sillygoose and her devotion to livin' la vida low-carb. She's just plain nutty about it and doesn't mind that a bit in the world. Hilarious, honest, and straight to the point, you'll never have to wonder what's on this blogger's mind.

27. THE LONG JOURNEY BEGINS NOW!

ShrinkingTony1980 is a 27-year old man from Weatherly, Pennsylvania who is another one of my YouTube fans and he now has his very own blog. After he started out weighing 383 pounds last year, he's now committed to the low-carb lifestyle and an active weight lifting routine. Tony's own YouTube videos give you a personal glimpse into the life and mind of a man just trying to change his life while he still can. Follow his progress and encourage him along the way. GO FOR IT, Tony!!!

28. BRIAN & CHRISTINE'S MILLION POUND MATCHUP

Appleton, Wisconsin couple Brian and Christine Zimmerman have decided to join "The Biggest Loser" Million Pound Matchup as well and they're out to prove that livin' la vida low-carb is the way for them. We're here for you Brian and Christine!

29. THE VIEW FROM SQUIRREL RIDGE

Virginia native Linda has decided that 2008 is her year to be healthy which is why she made it her New Year's resolution to live a sugar-free lifestyle. OUTSTANDING, Linda, and I hope you remain dedicated to this. I've been living sugar-free for over four years and counting and DON'T miss sugar a bit! KEEP AT IT and MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

30. THE CARB-ORATOR

The Carb-Orator is from El Paso, Texas and is living proof that a high-fat, low-carb diet is not just good for weight loss, but an amazing turnaround in your health markers, too. He's already lost triple digits in a little over a year, but check out these changes in his lipid profile. Triglycerides well below 100, HDL above 50, and total cholesterol DOWN by one-third. INCREDIBLE! Keep showing them how it's done Carb-Orator!

31. BODY FOR LIFE

The Body For Life program is helping a lot of people and mother of three Tameka is ready for the challenge. She has entered the 2008 Body-for-life contest because she's "tired of being lean and puny." Starting on the day after Christmas 2007, she hopes to have the body she wants by the time April 26, 2008 rolls around. See what she's eating and follow Tameka's journey with weekly updated pictures, too. YOU GO GIRL!!!

32. FAT BROKE 2 LIVIN' LARGE

Rod Giddings is a 41-year old man from Clinton, Iowa who once weighed as much as 468 pounds. But after starting on the Atkins diet, he quickly realized that this "works the best for me." Rod, you're gonna keep shedding those pounds and getting healthy, buddy. Stick with the lessons you have learned about low-carb living and never stop doing them. hey jimmy... Its bob (the traveller) here. Thanks for the shout-out !! My mission is to try to put forward foods that are COMMON, AFFORDABLE and WITHIN REACH yet miraculous. Wonderful is not enough... My focus is MIRACULOUS. I don't want people to think that if they can't afford to buy supplements and the sort, they might as well give up on their health. It's simply not the way... There is hope.. and it's in our kitchens and pantries all this while. :-)
