Healthy Living Is A Go On 'The Dan Ho Show'

Big hair, bigger smile and the biggest fun--it's "The Dan Ho Show!"

Have you ever met someone for the very first time and felt like you've known that person for years already? That's the immediate impression I got when I learned about this man they call Dan Ho. Yes, that really is his name and he's one of the most unique and authentic people to come to your television screen in a very long time.

The perfect life Dan thought he had was forever changed on a fateful day in February 1998 when a seizure nearly led to his premature death and the newfound respect he has gained ever since about healthy living through simplicity has led him to let down his guard, show his true feelings, and put forth who he is in a bona fide manner. It's what defines Dan Ho today and what he tried to do when he was the publisher and creator of the now-defunct Rescue magazine.

Because of the name he has made for himself in recent years, Dan Ho has been given an opportunity to present his fun and exciting ideas about living life to the fullest in a brand new show coming to Discovery Health called (oddly enough!) "The Dan Ho Show." I know, it's a typical name for a show, but it certainly has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? :)

On this new inspirational primetime series, Ho will be discussing how making simple changes in your life can help you better manage the health of your body, mind and soul so the real you can shine through for everyone to see. Call him the antithesis to the "extreme makeover" and Martha Stewart-like show movement in America because Dan Ho digs so much deeper than the visible surface where most people see us in the day-to-day. Instead, he gets to the very inner core of who we are as human beings and takes people on a reflective journey about themselves that they never thought possible.

Never relying on the health "experts" to tell him the truth about what is good for him, Dan uses his peculiar sense of humor to show people that they really can have a style all to their own to alleviate the daily stresses that life inevitably spoon-feeds them. The Dan Ho philosophy is to be who you are with the talents you have been given and let others do what they do best (aka what Ho calls DIB). You can learn a little more about what makes Dan Ho different by checking out these other unique Ho'isms.

The philosophy of Dan Ho is encompassed in his October 2006 book

His brand new book entitled "Rescue from Domestic Perfection: The Not-So Secrets of Balancing Life and Style" (you can read a little snippet from the book by clicking here) gets into the nitty gritty behind the changes that you can make as you are cooking, entertaining, decorating, cleaning, organizing, gardening, maintenance, and living life to the fullest.

My only concern about Dan Ho from the perspective of a low-carb weight loss success story is the fact that he supports the low-fat diet (see #5 on his top ten manifesto list). That in and of itself is not going to stop me from learning from this man about healthy living, but I thought I would bring it to your attention since this is a low-carb blog and you expect me to share candidly about the people and subjects I feature here. Okay, I got that out of the way.

So, are you ready to meet Dan Ho himself? Then check out these brief video snippets and tune in to Discovery Health this Tuesday night, October 17, 2006 at 9:00pm ET for a special one-hour episode of "The Dan Ho Show."

To help celebrate the release of Dan's new show, he has agreed to give away TEN FREE COPIES OF HIS BOOK to the readers of the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog to get you excited about this new chapter in his journey towards helping people enjoy a much simpler life for the sake of their health and wellbeing. Pretty cool, huh?

It's SUPER EASY to enter for your chance to get a FREE BOOK:

1. Send me an e-mail with "DAN HO GIVEAWAY" as the subject.
2. Provide your full name and mailing address (no P.O. Boxes please).
3. Share which area of your life you wish was made more simple.

That's it! But don't delay because you only have until this Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at midnight to enter to win. GOOD LUCK to everyone who participates and Dan Ho extends to you a special THANK YOU for taking proactive steps to simply your life so you can see dramatic improvements in every aspect of your health.

Let me tell you, if you are looking for sugar-coated answers to your health questions, though, then don't contact Dan Ho. LOL! Seriously, this guy uses an ascerbic wit that cuts sharply through the muckity-muck answers you usually hear from people purporting to talk about health. His style is to simply lay it all out there from his perspective so you can choose for yourself what changes you need to make in your life. If you think you can take it, then contact Dan Ho with your lifestyle questions and he very well may give you the answer you need (even if it's not the one you wanted to hear!).

Plus, if you cook and have a recipe that contains no more than five ingredients, then you should submit it to the Dan Ho Recipe Challenge. Who knows, you may see your recipe featured on an upcoming episode of his show! Give it a shot!

Whew! Did you get all of that?! "The Dan Ho Show" looks to be a cut above the rest of the garbage that's on television today and will very likely rock the boat among those "experts" who too often demand perfection and complexity when it comes to healthy living. Dan Ho says no to that and urges you to give his way a go.

Be sure to watch the special episode of "The Dan Ho Show" on Tuesday night and let me know what you think! Get those entries in to me soon for your chance to win "Rescue from Domestic Perfection: The Not-So Secrets of Balancing Life and Style." GOOD LUCK!
