Whenever low-carb diets are discussed in the United States and around the world these days, generally one name has been made synonymous with them--Atkins. Because of the importance of this low-carb masterpiece, Dr. Eades has undertaken the meticulous task of scanning this very short 45-page letter which was made into a small book and he put it online for us at NO CHARGE! I just loved this. Every thing this poor guy went thru over a hundred years ago is the same stuff we all go thru today with low carb. Same comments from friends, same wonderful results and same obsticals.
I did like the daily menus, especially the "liquid" part. LOL Now that was drinking mans diet. That part was fun because it sure pointed out how things have changed with alcohol. Not so normal to drink at every meal anymore.

One big reason the Brits and other Europeans drank at every meal was that straight water was seen as a health threat, which it often was. Drinking ale was like drinking bottled water is now - fermented drinks were proven to not make you sick (though they didn't know why), so they drank it morning, noon and night.

In the list of Banting/Steffanson/Atkins, etc., don't forget “Eat Fat and Grow Slim” by Richard MacKarness from 1958, and other paleo-studies from the early 20th century, which have verified LC all along the way.
