Sound Science Supporting Saturated Fat Featured In Phoenix This Week

The city of Phoenix, Arizona is about to heat up this week and it's not just because summer is on the way. The American Society of Bariatric Physicians is conducting their 2008 Western Regional Obesity Course and Nutrition & Metabolism Society Symposium beginning on Tuesday, April 8 through Sunday April 13, 2008. Christine and I attended the 2007 ASBP meeting in Nashville, Tennessee last year as well as the 2006 Nutrition & Metabolism scientific sessions that took place in Brooklyn, New York. These are truly amazing conferences to attend and I am honored to be a part of them despite being just a layperson with no medical or nutritional training or background.

This particular conference in Phoenix beginning on Tuesday is where all of the nation's top bariatrics physicians come together to talk about and exchange ideas about how to deal with the ever-increasing problem of obesity and to find out what is working and what is not. Yes, many bariatric physicians seem to get a bad rap for their seeming quick embracing of weight loss surgery, but a lot of the ones I interviewed for my podcast show last year looked at natural dietary ways of dealing with it first before even contemplating going under the knife with their patients. Most of these doctors are fully dedicated to helping their patients find the proven and effective plan that works best for them and they come to conferences like these to hear seminars from other experts in the field to learn how to be even better at what they do.

As an added bonus set of sessions presented by the Nutrition & Metabolism Society, the weekend part of the conference is almost entirely dedicated to the truth from the research community about saturated fat, carbohydrate restrictions, and heart disease. The very latest cutting edge evidence will be presented, including examining whether there is a real connection between saturated fat and heart disease, seeking to understand what role carbohydrates play in cardiovascular risks, and comparing whether carbohydrate restriction or saturated fat restriction is preferred when attempting to prevent and treat heart disease. What a fascinating set of topics that correlates perfectly with what I do here on a daily basis and one I will be taking copious notes, I can assure you.

The highlight of the conference taking place at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix is hearing from bestselling author of Good Calories, Bad Calories Gary Taubes as he presents two lectures--"The Real Cause Of Obesity" on Saturday and "History of Dietary Saturated Fat-Restriction Recommendations" on Sunday. I'll be right there listening in to what he has to say as well as conducting my own interview with Taubes who has generously agreed to appear on my podcast show, too. WOO HOO!

Other notables presenting information at this event who I am hoping to meet and interview while I am there include Dr. Eric Westman from Duke University, Dr. Richard Feinman from SUNY Downstate, Dr. Jeff Volek from the University of Connecticut, Dr. J. Bruce German and Dr. Steven Phinney (who I've been trying to interview for the past three years) from the University of California-Davis, Dr. Mary C. Vernon from the University of Kansas, Dr. Donald Layman from from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Dr. Jay Wortman who constructed the diet used by the First Nations people on the hit CBC-TV documentary "My Big Fat Diet."

It will be a true honor being in the midst of these true greats who are working tirelessly behind the scenes researching the validity of the low-carbohydrate dietary approach. I consider these men and women the REAL heroes of this way of eating because they have sometimes put their own personal careers and reputations on the line in an effort to share the truth that the data shows them about livin' la vida low-carb. We all owe them a great debt of gratitude for the work they are doing to educate the public about the healthy low-carb lifestyle.

I'm also excited about meeting some other wonderful people in the world of low-carb living who will be in attendance at this conference, including Protein Power authors Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades, Jackie Eberstein from Controlled Carbohydrate Nutrition (and who worked with Dr. Robert C. Atkins for three decades), University of Connecticut researcher Cassandra Forsythe, About.com Low-Carb Diets blogger Laura Dolson, Colette Heimowitz from Atkins Nutritionals, and many more! Christine and I can't wait to get on that plane on Thursday and spend a few days in the "valley of the sun" to get educated, encouraged and inspired anew about the healthy low-carb lifestyle. When I get back, hopefully I'll have TONS of podcasts, blog post ideas and even a YouTube video or two to share with you about this incredible conference.

If you have any questions you would like for me to ask any of the people I mentioned in this blog post during my interviews, then please e-mail those to me no later than Tuesday, April 8, 2008. I will do my best to ask the experts about what's on your mind and get the answer directly from the horse's mouth. :) THANKS for supporting the work I am doing here at the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog. I appreciate you guys!

By the way, if you live in the Phoenix, AZ area, then we'd love to meet you while we are there. E-mail me and maybe we can meet at the hotel to chat or have dinner with you. It would be such a privilege to come face-to-face with the people who enthusiastically support me in the work I am doing. THANK YOU!

New Low-Carb Podcast Show Bucking Conventional Wisdom To Effect Change

Conventional wisdom in any current discussion of health, nutrition and weight loss generally means to follow a low-fat, low-calorie, portion-controlled diet as the preferred method of eating in what many consider as the only "healthy" way to eat.

The sad truth of this universally-held axiom is all around us. All you have to do is look at the glut of television and print marketing ads, the not-so-conspicuous "low-fat" and "fat-free" food labeling, and the constant mind-numbed regurgitation of this robotic message from those who are in authority about how people should be eating. It's inescapable for people to not be influenced by this neverending bombardment of information.

But the evidence against such dogmatic interpretations about what constitutes a "healthy" diet is beginning to mount and the facts are now being exposed for all the world to hear on the brand new "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" podcast from GNM Health, a subsidiary of Grasshopper New Media.

Although only a few weeks old, this podcast show is quickly breaking the mold and bucking the trend against the status quo conventional wisdom that the media and the so-called health "experts" would have you believe about the subject of a healthy diet. Highlighted by the nearly 200-pound low-carb weight loss success story of the host, Jimmy Moore, this podcast stands ready to boldy proclaim the positive and uplifting message that low-carb living is STILL changing lives today.

With three episodes in the can already that have shattered some of the most common myths about how healthy and mainstream the low-carb lifestyle really is, Episode 4 is very likely the most important podcast yet for this young podcast show because it directly challenges those who oppose low-carb with actual scientific evidence that there is now long-term evidence published in a highly-respected and well-known medical journal by researchers out of Harvard. There's no way to hide from these facts and the dietary dissidents know it, too!

Listen to Episode 4 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" (November 13, 2006) RIGHT NOW by clicking on the appropriate link below (you don't need an iPod to listen--just turn up the volume on your computer and use any of the links provided):

If those of us who are bucking convention wisdom are going to be about bringing permanent change in the way our society looks at nutrition and health information in the United States and around the world, then we need to be on the frontlines of sharing the truth when it is staring us right in the face. Once you've been exposed to this kind of undeniable evidence, you can't just sit idly by waiting for others to do the right thing because it will never happen. We need to take it in our own hands and that's what "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show" is doing.

Here's a challenge for YOU this week: Tell at least 10 of your friends, family and interested individuals about "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore." Encourage them to listen at TheLivinLowCarbShow.com and be willing to set aside any of their old ways of thinking about diet and weight loss. Once the truth is revealed, it's hard to go back to believing that way ever again!

You can also listen to the podcast at iTunes or through the RSS feed. Regardless of how you listen, I appreciate the fact that you are one of those brave few who aren't afraid of hearing the truth. We need more people like you listening and supporting efforts like "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" because there are tens of millions who need help, hope, and a heart willing to listen to their struggles.

It's not easy living in a world that seems to be deceiving us with mixed messages about what is good for our bodies. But the truth is out there and will be openly shared on "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show." Give it a listen TODAY!

Colpo Presents 'Best Of TheOmnivore' E-Book

Do you miss TheOmnivore? Get all the best Colpo articles in this e-book!

When you've got what is arguably considered one of the most highly successful and best health web sites of all time on the Internet and then suddenly decide to pull that web site's content virtually overnight, without warning, forever and ever, then you're gonna have quite a few people start to miss the great information that they took advantage of having readily available to them.

That's exactly what happened to TheOmnivore.com when its author Anthony Colpo decided to shut it down for good back in June 2006. Ever since that time, though, Colpo has received dozens of e-mails from his devoted fan base asking him to make his well-researched articles available again in some format. Please?

Thus was born the idea for "The Best Of The Omnivore" e-book. For everyone who complained that Colpo was being too selfish for pulling the wonderful content from his site, then here is your opportunity to step up and buy your own direct access to all your favorite articles again for less than five bucks!

That's right, these 266 pages of classic Colpo feature your favorite columns, memorable articles, heated e-mail exchanges, and so much more. And your total cost for this invaluable e-book compilation? ONLY $4.99! As in FOUR DOLLARS AND NINETY-NINE CENTS! Are you kidding me, Anthony? THAT'S ALL YOU WANNA CHARGE?!

WOW, can you get any more dirt cheap than that for such high-quality content that is backed by solid scientific evidence? I can't think of ANY good reason why everyone who supports what this man has done on behalf of all of us believers and supporters in livin' la vida low-carb wouldn't shell out what amounts to pennies per column for content that is easily worth hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars.

Colpo invested countless hours of much of his life over the past three years researching, writing, refuting, and doing the dirty behind-the-scenes work to prove all these health claims we have had hammered down our throats for decades are as wrong as wrong can be. He did all of this without one single dime of payment from any special interest groups so he could uphold the independent integrity of his research. Can't we say THANK YOU to Anthony Colpo by buying his e-book now?

Even more impressive to me is the fact that Colpo wants to help benefit a fine organization with a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his e-book. He has agreed to donate 20 percent of each of the e-books he sell to the good work being done by a group called The International Advocates of Health Freedom.

Following on the heels of his critically-acclaimed debut blockbuster book "The Great Cholesterol Con" as well as his brand new web site called LowCarbMuscle.com, this new e-book should take away any and all excuses that people have about Colpo's decision to no longer make the content on his web site available publicly. JUST GET THE E-BOOK ALREADY!

Colpo's obviously not going to make a ton of money off of this, so the least people who have supported his efforts with TheOmnivore.com can do is buy this e-book. And it really is fantastic with all your favorites from Colpo, including:

- "Why the Low-Fat Diet is Stupid and Potentially Dangerous"
- "LDL Cholesterol Does NOT Cause Atheroscierosis or Heart Disease"
- "Why Diabetics Should Avoid High Carbohydrate Diets"
- "The Ties That Bind"
- "The Dietary Delusions of Dean Ornish"
- "The China Study: More Vegan Nonsense!"
- "Stop The Insanity!"
- "Just How Low Will The Anti-Low-Carb Crowd Go?"
- "It's official: Statin proponents have lost their minds!"
- "'Brainless is Better' If You're a Statin Researcher!"
- "Cholesterol Drugs Can Cause Impotence"
- "How to Become an Easily-Brainwashed Sucker in 5 easy steps!"
- "If Everybody Believes the Same Thing, It Must Be True, Right? Wrong!"
- AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!

PLUS, you'll get Colpo's infamous "Straight Out of My Inbox!" responses to some of the rather odd and peculiar feedback that Colpo received from his skeptical readers over the past three years. He also responds to the "Health Authorities" as well as "The Critics" in a way only Anthony Colpo could.

Most people who support livin' la vida low-carb will never forget those three years from 2003-2006 when TheOmnivore.com offered so much to the field of health that quite literally shook the entire medical establishment to the core. Colpo questioned everything that had ever been taught regarding healthy living and ripped it to shreds! From cholesterol to saturated fat to drugs and the monopolized low-fat diet, "The Best Of TheOmnivore" has it all for YOU!

Colpo was literally a one-man show telling it like it is, never backing down from a challenge, always giving it to you no-hold-barred, take it or leave it because he KNEW he had the TRUTH on his side. And to this day, NOBODY has been able to refute any of the sound research that Colpo has presented. NOBODY!

So, don't delay! Pick up your copy of "The Best Of TheOmnivore" by Anthony Colpo exclusively available for download from Lulu.com TODAY!
