I'm very lucky because I've got some pretty talented readers here at my blog and over at my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Discussion" forum. The daily devotion that so many of you invest in the work that I do simply astounds me and I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate it. And each of you individually are full of creativity and ingenuity that serve as a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to me.
One of my faithful blog and forum readers is Dan, aka renegadediabetic. As a Type 2 diabetic who is using a low-carb nutritional approach to control his disease, Dan is always coming up with new ways to help fellow diabetics incorporate this lifestyle change into their own lives. One way he does that is by creating some snazzy new recipes to help make low-carb living that much more enjoyable.
And wouldn't you know it, he came up with a recipe for a "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Shake." When I saw this recipe on my forum this week, I just about fell out of my chair it looked so incredibly amazing. I asked Dan if I could share his little creation with you and he enthusiastically agreed. So here you go and ENJOY! THANKS Dan!
THE LIVIN' LA VIDA LOW-CARB SHAKE
2 ounces heavy cream 1 snack cup of Vanilla Cream low-carb Dannon yogurt 1 Tbs coconut oil 1 Tbs cream cheese 4 squirts sugar free raspberry syrup 4 walnut halves 1 square Livin' La Vida Low Carb Bar, roughly chopped
Put all the ingredients in a blender and press pulse about 10-15 times to chop up the ingredients. Then place blender on smooth setting for 1-2 minutes until thoroughly mixed. Pour into a glass and enjoy a rasberrylicious low-carb milkshake!
Are you constantly thinking of food on your low-carb diet?
One of the reasons why so many of us got to be overweight or obese in the first place is we were always anticipating our next meal and making it the focal point of our lives. It may not have been a conscientious thought process, but it was there whether we admit it or not. Food, and specifically sugary and starchy high-carb food, was our reason for living because we had a deep, deep hunger.
But when you start livin' la vida low-carb, those feelings of hunger and dwelling on what you are gonna eat next go away, right? Well, not exactly if you don't follow your low-carb plan EXACTLY as prescribed by the author of that program. That's what I talk about in Episode 104 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" to help you pinpoint why you may be feeling hungry on your low-carb diet. It ain't normal, so tune in to today's podcast to find out why and how you can remedy this.

I'm not sure where people got the notion that they should suffer in their weight loss, but that's precisely what most people think. Being hungry and craving food are just a part of what it takes to shed the pounds (so they think!). But when you are livin' la vida low-carb, all that conventional wisdom is thrown out the window and you discover a way of eating that is both delicious and nutritious that helps you burn body fat and feel better than you ever have in your entire life!
Never get hungry for low-carb news and info again by:
Have you experienced hunger on your low-carb lifestyle? If so, then what did you do to remedy it? Eat more fat? Eat low-carb meals more often? Or are you STILL suffering from hunger? Tell us your experience in the show notes section for Episode 104.
Too often people who are overweight or obese put all their focus and energy on losing weight. This seems to make sense but it's DEAD WRONG! Especially for those of us who have chosen to start livin' la vida low-carb, weight loss is merely a side effect of eating healthier than we ever thought possible. Health is the primary focus of what our diet is supposed to be about!
We discuss these concepts and more in Episode 103 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore." Regardless of where you are in your health and fitness, this is a podcast to put your mind in a place where you are FINALLY ready to succeed at weight loss and getting your health back in order.

It's unfortunate that too many people decide to lose weight only after their clothes start feeling tighter or they see a picture of themselves for the first time in a while. I've been there myself and it is a disappointing place to be in. Thankfully I was able to start on the Atkins diet to begin the healing process not just for my obesity, but also for a wide range of health problems I was setting myself up for had I not done something about it. And it is this constant quest for maintaining my health that keeps me livin' la vida low-carb to this very day!

Do you agree that it is more important to focus on health first and let the weight loss happen from there? Or is there merit to getting down to the nitty gritty to get that scale to move as your primary focus and you'll worry about health later? Let's talk about this important subject in the show notes section for Episode 103.
After such an overwhelming amount of feedback for my previous podcast episode last Thursday where listener Esther won THREE FREE BARS of my new raspberry, dark chocolate "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" (now available at CarbSmart, Netrition, and Amazon), I've decided to do it again for Episode 103. WOO HOO! Share your feedback at the podcast web site and you too might win some free low-carb chocolate bars! :D
Regardless of where you are in your low-carb journey, I think you'll agree with me that one of the keys to your success is by remaining alert and focused on your diet and health. Letting your low-carb guard down is when you become susceptible to the dreaded weight creep and all the guilty feelings that come along with that and the weight loss game roars on. UGH!
In Episode 102 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore", we take a look at this important issue for people who get in a rut on their low-carb lifestyle. When your weight goes up, there isn't always an obvious cause. But sometimes there is because we have fooled ourselves into believing we've been doing everything right (the reality is likely just the opposite). Keep things real and never lose the proper perspective.

One of the primary reasons why a "diet" fails people is they forget all the lessons they learned during their weight loss phase. It's funny how we get amnesia about what we need to do once we enter the weight maintenance phase? But allowing your weight to keep going up and up after weight loss is no laughing matter. Getting back on track when you "slip up" is the sign of someone who is committed to this journey for life.

Water should be on tap for your healthy low-carb lifestyle
Livin' la vida low-carb has so many facets to it that sometimes even the most basic things get overlooked. We all know about the importance of carbohydrate restriction to help manage our blood sugars and prevent the release of too much insulin into our bodies which can lead to weight gain and a whole host of health problems. But what else is there to be concerned with on a low-carb lifestyle?
I've discussed many of these things before here at my blog and in my book, including supplements, exercise, and motivation, among many other things. But one area that many people tend to brush aside as irrelevant is proper hydration. Drinking water is as important as exercise when you are on low-carb and I speak from personal experience. You just feel AWESOME when you get H2O in your body and there's nothing else like it!
That's what Christine and I talk about in Episode 20 of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube." Actually, Christine does most of the talking this time because I am busy trying to drink a total of eight glasses of water during our 10-minute video. Sound impossible? Well, you're just gonna have to watch to see if I was able to do it! It certainly proves the point that you CAN drink enough water throughout the day to give your low-carb plan a much-needed boost.
Watch me nearly drown myself with all that water in today's video:
It was a bit strange having all those glasses of water around me in the video since I carry around this CarbSmart water bottle with me everywhere I go. I keep it filled up with triple-filtered water that tastes absolutely FABULOUS and I'd never think of drinking any tap water ever again. I can taste the difference now and I miss MY water when I'm away from home.
There are many reasons why I drink water and they all center around my weight loss and my health. When I first started livin' la vida low-carb, water worked with the fiber I was eating to get my bowel to shake, rattle, and roll. It still serves that purpose today when I drink it in large quantities like I did for this video.
Some people can't stand the taste of water which is why I was pleased to talk about True Lemon during the video. They are my newest sponsor at the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog and I'll be telling you more about them real soon. Suffice it say if you like lemon, lime, or orange flavors, then you're gonna LOVE True Lemon products in your water. Get a FREE SAMPLE mailed to you and try it for yourself or use this store locater to find out where you can pick up a box of True Lemon in your area (including Canada!).
The videos are up to 20 episodes now and you can see them all in this listing of YouTube videos at my links blog. Of course, you can subscribe to our videos and be one of the first ones to see them when they come out. Life's been crazy busy lately or we would be doing more of them, but we're committed to pumping these out regularly in 2008--so SIGN UP TODAY! As always, e-mail us your feedback at livinlowcarbman@charter.net.
By the way, for fans of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" podcast show, my producer Kevin Kennedy-Spaeien has almost recovered fully from the injuries he sustained in that car accident a few months back that has had the show in hiatus ever since our historic 100th show! Well, we're set to return for Episode 101 and beyond beginning on Monday, January 7, 2008 and resume our normal schedule on Mondays and Thursdays. THANKS to everyone who has e-mailed about the show and we're happy to be coming back.
Everybody seems to love my new raspberry dark chocolate bars!
When I set out to create my own low-carb chocolate bar earlier this year, my purpose was to try to make a very high-quality product that people will love and enjoy as much as they would sugary chocolate except without all the blood sugar-spiking high fructose corn syrup and sugar that usually accompanies it. I'm very pleased with the final product that is now called "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" and available for purchase at the online low-carb retail store CarbSmart.com where they quickly vaulted to the top of the bestseller list!
You can also pick up decoratively-packaged 12-packs of my new raspberry dark chocolate bars at Amazon.com and even leave some feedback about what you think about them there. I'd be grateful for your reviews to share with others how fantastic you think my chocolate is. At least that seems to be the consensus among so many of you who have written to me so far. Check out these actual comments from people:
I got the candy bars - and hot damn, it is actually a low-carb product I'd actually eat now and then! It is way good Jimmy! I do hope it sells well! ********** I'm also a big fan of dark chocolate with raspberry. I think the coconut oil is a nice touch, too, and I'm sure it'll make the bar very creamy. I'd love to share some of these bars with my mom and 13-year-old sister too, as I just got them started on livin' la vida low-carb (woo hoo!)! ********** Congratulations on having your own low-carb candy bar! I think it's going to be a winner. Chocoperfection bars are great on their own, and even better when used as the base for other candies. ********** I really like ChocoPerfection dark chocolate bars and I LOVE chocolate and raspberries. YUMM! I order the dark chocolate bars, then hide them from my low carbing husband. Thanks again for informing the low-carb community of another good and good for you product. ********** Way to go on the new product. It is always nice to know that there are choices for people livin' la vida low-carb. ********** I am a chocolate lover and I have not had any chocolate since August. I have been on Atkins since July and I have not cheated at all. I have lost over 80 pounds so far and I will keep going thanks to your chocolate bars. ********** Wonderful! I love dark chocolate and raspberry--together they are heavenly. I appreciate all your information on your blog as well as the videos. ********** Raspberry and chocolate are one of my favorites, I even love coconut oil, but never thought of putting all three together. Sounds like a fabulously delicious idea, and I bet they must be for you to be putting the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb name on it. I wish you well, and hope you sell millions. ********** I'm really not missing much of anything on this way of eating but I do love some GOOD chocolate now and then. I have not tried any low carb chocolate bars because of the sugar alcohols in them. I'm happy to give yours a try! ********** I love chocolate and am thrilled with the idea that I won’t have to give it up. Good for you for getting your own favorite bar made to your specifications. I, too, have bad body reactions to some of the stuff using malitol, etc. so it will be a pleasure to give yours a try.
WOW, thanks for all the GREAT feedback everyone! I'm so glad you enjoy this new bar and it's a thrill to finally have it available for you to enjoy.
A few of my fellow bloggers have gotten into the act sharing their impressions of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" already:
"The Jimmy Moore Livin' La Vida Low-Carb bar is a chocoholic’s dream come true. The same wonderful, deep dark chocolate on the outside as the dark ChocoPerfection™ bars, but with a surprise on the inside—a soft, moist, raspberry-flavored, truffle center."
"I'm so happy to announce that Jimmy Moore's new Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Raspberry Dark Chocolate Bar, by ChocoPerfection, is an absolute hit! His idea, spurred on by his love for the combination of these two flavors, and his lack of love for sugar alcohols, turned out to be what I believe will most assuredly be one of ChocoPerfection's most popular items...One of the first things you notice when you open the wrapper is the smell of raspberry. When you take a bite you enjoy a delightfully rich and smooth dark chocolate with that touch of raspberry that makes this bar stand out from so many others."
"It smells super sweet and suffused with raspberry, not unlike Boehm's chocolate shop used to smell when I was little. Smells like chocolate candy...Oh my, this is really sweet, but with the inclusion of the raspberry it works so very well...As a raspberry chocolate candy-lovin' fiend's treat, this just rocks my happy world. Ohhh, I am having serious joy. There's enough chocolate power accompanying the berry flavor that I feel like doing a little dance. I've missed raspberry chocolate so! I actually think this is every bit as much fun as Godiva's dark raspberry--and this is healthy...for a low-carbing chocolate lover seeking a sweet treat? I give it an A!"
Golly ya'll, I'm blushing now! THANKS for those enthusiastic reviews and I welcome anyone else who wants to write one to send it to me at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" will soon be available from the ChocoPerfection web site and at the online health food retailer Netrition in early 2008.
If you'd like to carry this bar in your store, then please contact Mary Jo Kringas via e-mail at customerservice@lowcarbspecialties.com or by calling her toll-free at 1-800-332-1773. She'd be happy to stock you up with this delicious and nutritious new low-carb raspberry dark chocolate bar!
Look out world, the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" has arrived!
First there was the Babe Ruth-inspired "Baby Ruth" candy bar. Then there was Reggie Jackson's "Reggie" bar. Although I'm certainly no athlete with the amazing credentials of a Ruth or a Jackson, I now have my very own candy bar like they do--it's called "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar." This is a chocolate lover's delight!
Yes, this new raspberry dark chocolate bar is both sugar-free AND low-carb and is presented to you by the makers of the amazing ChocoPerfection chocolate bars. It's been over a year in the making, but "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" is hitting the low-carb/diabetes market with a big splash debuting this week at CarbSmart!
My wife Christine and I talk about why we decided to come up with this new low-carb chocolate bar in Episode 18 of "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube." With so many other low-carb chocolate choices out there, what's gonna make this one so different? You'll learn EXACTLY why when you tune into this video.
Hear the story behind why "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" was created:
Not to necessarily take anything away from those "other" sugar-free, low-carb chocolate companies, but quite frankly many of them just don't get it. They insist on using cheap, inferior ingredients in their products like the sugar alcohol maltitol which has a well-known disturbing side effect. Why can't we have the opportunity to have a high-quality low-carb chocolate experience without having to go through all that?
That is precisely what attracted me to the ChocoPerfection bars two years ago when I described them as the best-tasting low-carb chocolate bars on the planet. But, like all great things, there are ways to make them even better and that's exactly what we've done with "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar."
It is the same chocolate recipe that so many of you have grown to love so much from ChocoPerfection, but now there's an added twist. We've included real raspberry oil as well as coconut oil in it for a special truffle-like center that begins melting as soon as it hits your tongue. And the intense raspberry flavor is what I personally like best about this new chocolate bar. It's an entirely new experience for a low-carb chocolate bar!
We only used the highest quality of ingredients in this bar, including cocoa butter, coconut oil, raspberry oil, oligofructose (chickory root providing 12 g fiber per bar), and erythritol. These are expensive raw materials, but they combine to make one of the most decadent low-carb treats you'll ever sink your teeth into. I'm very proud of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar" and gladly put my name and photo on it as my endorsement of such an excellent product for people who are diabetic or are on the low-carb lifestyle.
As I said, the grand release of my new chocolate bar is now here and exclusively at CarbSmart.com where you can purchase them individually or by the dozen. In a few weeks, they'll be available from the ChocoPerfection web site and other fine online retailers. But I'd like to give YOU an opportunity to win some too! Does that sound like a good deal? GREAT!
