Christian Radio Announcer Cindy Swanson's Interview And Blog Post About Low-Carb

Type 2 diabetic Cindy Swanson loves low-carb living

Sometimes it feels like I've been blogging about livin' la vida low-carb forever, but there was a life for me prior to my 180-pound weight loss and subsequent career path I am now enjoying. Looking back at all those old jobs I have had--customer service, retail, marketing, management, political writer, short order cook, busboy, and a lot more jobs that I don't care to even remember--all of them prepared me for the work I am doing now serving the needs of my readers and I am grateful for the training I received from each of those.

But there was one particular job that I especially enjoyed during the 1990s that has come in handy for my podcast show and other speaking engagements that I am able to do. I was an on-air radio personality at a contemporary Christian music radio station in Virginia Beach, VA and even hosted a weekly show featuring the top songs in Christian music called "The Christian Hits Countdown." Even then I was always trying to be creative and I dreamed of doing bigger and better things in the future. Today I am living that dream. :)

Doing radio sounds so easy--just sit in a comfortable chair behind a microphone, press the play button on the CD player and talk into the microphone every once in a while. But it's so much more than that as Cindy Swanson from Positive Hit Radio 101QFL in Rockford, IL can personally attest to. She's half of the morning team at the radio station and is very good at what she does. It looks like a simple job, but there are certain stresses that come with radio announcing that you don't even want to talk about (and it has nothing at all to do with that chatty listener who likes to call you every now and then to talk and talk and talk right in the middle of your show...did I mention they like to talk?).

Why am I sharing about a Christian radio announcer today? Because Cindy Swanson was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year and has become VERY interested in the healthy low-carb lifestyle. She found my blog from a recent post I did with former "Biggest Loser" contestant Julie Hadden and was curious to find out I am a Christian who likes many of the same Christian artists that she does (I list them under "Favorite Music" in my blog profile). So she contacted me and told me about her fabulous blog "Notes in the Key of Life".

I enjoyed reading her blog and requested an interview with her to discuss how she handled learning she has Type 2 diabetes and what plan of action she is taking to bring it under control (she's livin' la vida low-carb, baby!). I'll be sharing that interview at my podcast later this month. Cindy also asked if she could interview me for her weekend spotlight show and I was delighted to have the opportunity to share about my healthy low-carb weight loss success with her listeners. You can listen to the entire 20-minute interview Cindy conducted with me by clicking here.

Cindy was also kind enough to blog about me and the work I am doing on behalf of low-carb living and I am grateful for her kindness and support. She is the perfect example of someone who NEEDS to be livin' la vida low-carb to control her diabetes and help her shed the pounds. By the grace of God and His guidance in her life, I have no doubt that she will live a long and healthy life with her diabetes under control and at the weight she was meant to be.

THANK YOU Cindy for featuring my story at your blog and on your radio station there in Rockport, IL. I am honored to have readers like you out there championing the cause of Christ as well as the positive message of livin' la vida low-carb. I can't wait to share my interview with you and appreciate all of the kindness and support you have given me since we met two months ago. God bless you and keep doing the work of the Lord within your sphere of influence. I appreciate you!!! :)

Jimmy Moore On Jonny Bowden's 'Your Body, Your Health, Your Life' Radio Show

Dr. Jonny Bowden to interview me on his popular health radio show

I'm privileged to share with you about a special one-on-one interview about my low-carb weight loss success story with the one and only Dr. Jonny Bowden on Tuesday, July 31st at 5pm EST. The Your Body, Your Health, Your Life radio show is a part of the Total Health Radio Network and is available to be listened to during or after it airs by clicking here.

You can even get interactive with the show by calling toll-free at 866-434-8685 during the show to ask me or Jonny a question. I'd love to hear a GREAT shout-out from the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog clan, so give us a buzz, won't you? :)

It is such a thrill to have the one and only Dr. Jonny Bowden, author of 150 Healthiest Foods On Earth and the MUST HAVE Living The Low-Carb Life, because I consider him one of the true giants in the field of nutrition and weight loss in America today. I could sense that in my interview with him last year and have great respect and admiration for what he is doing to help people.

If you agree, then I invite you to recommend Dr. Jonny Bowden to become a new natural health expert at the uber-popular health web site Mercola.com. That site is being expanded to include more voices in the health debate, so let's get behind Jonny!

And don't forget to listen to his interview with ME! :)

New Sugar-Shunning Radio Show Is Off And Running

I've been telling you about it for a couple of weeks and now it's off and running!

The grand debut of Connie Bennett's new "Stop SUGAR SHOCK!" show last night was absolutely AMAZING! If you missed it LIVE (shame on you! LOL!), then you will want to go LISTEN NOW to the archived July 10, 2007 half-hour episode.

This will be an excellent weekly resource on Tuesday nights at 6:00PM EST, so make an effort to tune in regularly. It'll complement your low-carb lifestyle and you might learn a few things you did not know. With Connie at the helm, I'm SURE of it! ;)

I was honored to be invited as the first guest on this new show and I discussed two specific studies during my appearance on the "Stop SUGAR SHOCK!" show that I wanted to provide a link to if you are interested in learning more about them.

1. Sugar is "rat poison"

Even before I realized University of California-Irvine psychologist Elizabeth Loftus was working on a study about this, I was creating "negative memories" about sugar by referring to it as "rat poison." This mantra helped me early on kick sugar for good!

"When I convinced myself that eating anything with sugar in it was like eating rat poison, it seems something happened in my brain to make that lie I told myself convincing enough to keep me away from sugar. I'm no psychologist, but it makes sense to me that you can believe something so strongly that you could convince yourself it is true."

2. Weight loss begins "in the mind"

Unless you are READY to lose weight mentally, you cannot fully be the success you want to be until you wrap your mind completely around actually doing it. Here's what I wrote about what British nutritionist Jane Clarke said about this subject:

"Until people who are overweight or obese realize in their own mind that losing weight is something they need to do -- FOR LIFE! -- then nothing is going to change for them. You have to commit yourself to the lifestyle changes that will bring you the results you want. Nobody can do that for you, nor should they!"

A BIG THANK YOU to Connie Bennett from the Sugar Shock Blog for having me appear on her new online radio show. I encourage you to support this new effort by Connie and let her know what you think. Leave a comment for her at her blog.

'Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show' Episode 66: Jimmy Moore's Interview With Andrea Fanti (Part 2)

Today, we'll continue what was started in Part 1 of my podcast show on Monday with my revealing interview with Andrea Fanti from the Dial & Speak radio show on WBTC-AM in New Philadelphia, Ohio last Thursday.

In Episode 66 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore," I'm pleased to offer Part 2 of this fun and exciting interview I was able to be a part of about low-carb and my weight loss experience. Listen NOW:

icon for podpress  "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" Episode 66 [31:10m]: Play in Popup | Download

You'll notice right away that the quality of the telephone connection was MUCH better in Part 2 when they called me back on a land line during the break. It was so refreshing to hear a host like Andrea Fanti express so articulately and impassioned her love for livin' la vida low-carb. Can we clone you, Andrea? :D

Get all the low-carb information and inspiration you need by:

1. Listening at the official web site
2. Going to iTunes
3. Calling (818) 688-2763 to listen via Podlinez
4. Subscribing to the RSS feed

We bounced around from topic to topic talking about the hypocrisy of groups like the American Diabetes Association, the overabundance of corn-related products in virtually everything we eat, ways to make low-carb living more compatible, recommendations for low-carb recipe ideas, and so much more! It was quite freeing to share so openly and honestly about what low-carb means to me on a public radio show.

Listen all the way to the end to hear a rather "interesting" call from a gentleman who sounded like he was about one fry short of a Happy Meal! :D

If case you missed it, go back and listen to Part 1 of my interview and then you can share your feedback about Part 2. I hope you enjoyed listening it as much as I loved doing it.

'Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show' Episode 65: Jimmy Moore Talks Low-Carb With Andrea Fanti

Just as I promised this weekend, I am pleased to provide you a special audio rebroadcast of my interview with Andrea Fanti from the Dial & Speak radio show on WBTC-AM in New Philadelphia, Ohio last Thursday on my podcast show.

Listen to Episode 65 of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" for Part 1 of this two-part interview about low-carb and my weight loss experience. Check it out:

icon for podpress  "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore" Episode 65 [25:09m]: Play in Popup | Download

Andrea Fanti was an amazing host with a long history of nutritional expertise (in fact, she said she once wrote a book about being a vegetarian which she now completely renounces--HA!). As a retired educator and now radio talk show host, she is always interested in hearing many opinions in terms of health. I don't think I disappointed her! :)

Get your fix of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show" by:

1. Listening at the official web site
2. Going to iTunes
3. Calling (818) 688-2763 to listen via Podlinez
4. Subscribing to the RSS feed

The first-half of this two-part interview was a little difficult to hear sometimes because my cell phone kept cutting out (this problem was remedied in the second-half of the interview when we spoke on a land line--TUNE IN THURSDAY!).

Even still, we hit all sorts of topics, including why low-carb living is healthy, making a career out of my low-carb weight loss, explaining what a blog is and why I chose to start this format to talk about low-carb living, and sharing some of the latest research advocating livin' la vida low-carb.

Plus, I received a very special surprise telephone call from one of my readers from Mississippi who gushed about how much my blog has meant to her life. WOW! That was so neat and it gave me the opportunity to talk about the feedback I receive from hundreds of readers each week.

Share your comments about what you heard in Part 1 of the interview and be sure to listen to Part 2 on Thursday!

Ohio Radio Interview On My Podcast Show, SUGAR SHOCK Radio Coming July 10

Following my appearance last Thursday morning on WBTC LIVE's Dial & Speak radio show with Andrea Fanti, the requests from my readers to hear a rebroadcast of the interview with me have come pouring in. Some were able to hear it LIVE in the New Philadelphia, Ohio area while others listened over the Internet.

But most people were either working or it was too early in the morning on the West Coast to hear the show. I made a recording of the interview using my little portable RCA digital recorder, so I asked the host Andrea if there was a recording available on CD which would have better sound quality. She forgot to have the show taped, so all I have is my recording.

Never fear, though, my trustworthy and talented podcast producer extraordinaire Kevin Kennedy-Spaien will work his magic to make it sound as good as it possibly can for you when my WBTC interview runs in a special two-part series for this week's episodes of "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore."

A big time THANKS to WBTC and Andrea Fanti for granting me permission to re-air my interview so my blog readers can hear it. Aren't ya'll just so special for them to do that for me?! YES YOU ARE! :D

Speaking of radio show, there's another one I'm scheduled to appear on in July as it kicks off on the brand new Blog Talk Radio network. It's Connie Bennett's Stop SUGAR SHOCK! show and it is set to debut on July 10, 2007 at 6:00pm EST.

Connie, whose amazing book SUGAR SHOCK recently received a HUGE boost from her appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning, has a full line-up of interviews she is describing as "Gab With the Gurus"TM and I'm her first guest. What an honor, Connie! THANKS for the opportunity to be one of you "gurus" to talk about low-carb living!

She promises the weekly half-hour show will be "lively, provocative, inspiring, cutting-edge" and will give you "rants, raves, sugar news with an edge, helpful tips to trim down or stomp out your sugar habit." SOUNDS AWESOME!!!

Go to the Stop SUGAR SHOCK! show page right now to set up an e-mail reminder to listen. Then, keep this number handy--(646) 716-7312--and use it to call into the show LIVE during the broadcast to share your comments and questions. It's a real live radio show--ONLINE!

Jimmy Moore Appearing On WBTC LIVE

Just a quick heads-up and sorry about the last minute notice, but I'm gonna be on the radio in the Cleveland, Ohio area on Thursday morning, June 28, 2007 at 10:00am EST. The station is WBTC LIVE 1540 AM and can be heard in the east central portion of Ohio which covers parts of five counties.

For those of you who do not live in that area, you can listen to the show online at the radio station's web site and click on the "LISTEN NOW - LIVE" link.

I know that's early for those of you on the West Coast and in the middle of the morning for people on the East Coast. But I hope you can tune in for the one-hour show about Jimmy Moore and "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb."

The host of the Dial & Speak radio show I will be on is Andrea Fanti who conducts interviews with all kinds of people and topics ranging from authors and politicians to highlighting new businesses and local agencies, libraries, school systems, and more. It's quite an eclectic program that has a loyal following.

She usually splits the show into two half-hour segments, but wants me on for the full hour to talk about the health benefits of livin' la vida low-carb. This should be FUN! ;)

I hope you get a chance to listen. Let me know what you thought about the show if you get a chance to hear it LIVE in Ohio or online. SEE YA!

6-28-07 UPDATE: Man, that interview was a LOAD of fun! It was so gratifying to articulate the principles of livin' la vida low-carb over the airwaves in Ohio. YEAH! That call from one of my readers in Mississippi was AWESOME and I meant every word I said about the response people have given me about my blog. THANK YOU! :)

Special thanks to Andrea Fanti for having me on her show today and for her graciousness in allowing me to share my perspective to her listeners. She reads this blog daily (HEY ANDREA!) and was very kind to give me such a platform.

For those of you who missed the show, I recorded it using my cheap-o digital recorder. I'll see if it will be available for download or if I can get permission to run it on my podcast show. Let me see what Andrea has to say.

Again, THANK YOU to everyone who listened and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

My Telephone Call To Encourage Radio Talk Show Host Mike Gallagher About His Weight

Popular talk show host and FOX News contributor worried about weight

What's going on with radio talk show hosts lately obsessing weight loss?

First you've got Rush Limbaugh bragging about his fast weight loss following his calorie-restricted diet plan which he has since revealed is the Nutrisystem program (which has a lower-carb option that I think he's using). Good for him finding something that he can implement as part of his regular routine.

Then today I was listening to The Mike Gallagher Show when the host Mike Gallagher started talking towards the end of his program about his uncontrollable urge to eat, eat, eat lately. He remarked how the weight loss he experienced last year is all gone and now he's ballooning back up again.

In fact, he admitted eating FOUR COOKIES in one sitting during his show today while bemoaning why he has gained back all the weight he previously lost on Weight Watchers. It was very hard for me to hear him struggling with something that once had such a firm grip on my life, too.

Here's a picture of Mike Gallagher after his 40-pound weight loss in 2006

Hearing Gallagher pour out his heart about how difficult getting a handle on his weight has been really struck me to the core and I felt compelled to try to help him in some small way. It's not an easy road thinking you have to count calories, watch portion sizes, limit your favorite foods, and all the other things that most people think they have to do to get and stay fit and trim.

You may have heard Mike Gallagher on the radio or seen him on television since he is a regular contributor on the FOX News Channel. He was discussing today how his agent put together a press package for him with video from his appearances and he was shocked. It's funny how seeing yourself in pictures and video can shake you into reality about your weight problem. I believe that's what happened to Gallagher today.

See for yourself if you agree with his weight concerns by watching this short clip of Gallagher in action on FOX News (ignore the content of his comments if they are offensive to you...that's not the point of this post so don't give me any grief about it!):

Obviously, Gallagher is quite upset about this (rightfully so) and cried out for help as his show was ending today. My wife Christine said, "Jimmy, you need to call Mike and encourage him with your weight loss success story." When she said that, I had just finished sending an e-mail to him through his web site, but I decided to call his show as well.

Fortunately, I got right through and I was on the air in less than a minute. A gentleman who had lost 30 pounds was on the line just before me talking with Gallagher about what he thought would help the downtrodden host. But then I got my chance to have the last work with him before the show ended.

"Next up on The Mike Gallagher Show we've got Jimmy who lost how much weight?" Gallagher exclaimed.

I responded, "190 pounds, Mike!" He was amazed and wanted to know what I did. I explained that I started on the Atkins diet in 2004 by permanently changing my habits to something I felt I could do forever for me. Clearly, Gallagher was amazed by my tremendous success.

When he asked how I've been able to keep the weight off, I told him what I've told you here at my blog so many times.

"Find something that will work for you, follow that plan exactly, and then keep doing it for the rest of your life," I told him.

Sharing how despondent he was about his current situation, Gallagher was appreciative of my inspiring story and I was happy to provide what I hope was a small glimmer of hope for him as he begins anew on this journey towards better health.

Mike, you can do this and I am here to cheer you on all the way! Don't EVER give up and just stay in the game. Your career is at a point where it is in your best interest to stay in the best shape of your life for the sake of your health. I'm proud of you for recognizing your need to get a handle on this now before it's too late. Now GO FOR IT!!!

Feel free to share your encouragement and positive reinforcement for Mike Gallagher as he continues down this weight loss adventure by clicking here. Let's give him a warm, loving, and receptive "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" welcome, ya'll. We already KNOW how hard it is, but we also KNOW how the low-carb lifestyle changed our lives for the better.

Thanks For Changing My Life, Ralph Bristol

Radio talk show host Ralph Bristol instrumental in my low-carb success

While most of the readers of my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog are aware of my 180-pound weight loss on the Atkins diet in 2004, you may not realize there were other ingredients involved in that experience that helped push me to the great success that I was able to accomplish. One of those was a rather unique opportunity to be a part of a weight loss contest conducted by a local afternoon radio talk show host named Ralph Bristol.

I had been a regular listener of "The Ralph Bristol Show" on 1330/950AM Newsradio WORD in Greenville/Spartanburg, SC for several years before 2004 when Ralph announced a brand new contest he was calling "Ralph's Incredible Shrinking Ton" which would pit five contestants weighing a cumulative 2,000 pounds against each other to see who could lose the most weight as a percentage of their starting weight. You can read my CommonVoice.com column entitled "382 1/2!" to get more of the details of the weigh-in day.

If you have read the Introduction of my book Livin' La Vida Low-Carb: My Journey From Flabby Fat To Sensationally Skinny In One Year, then you already know the story. If not, then you can read that chapter for FREE and see exactly what happened during the contest. I will tell you this--I won the contest but in the most peculiar way. You'll just have to read it to believe it! CLICK HERE to view my before and after photos from "Ralph's Incredible Shrinking Ton" contest.

After months of arm-twisting and begging him to write the foreword to my book, Ralph agreed and did a fantastic job encapsulating exactly what I was attempting to convey with the book. I will forever be indebted to him for being willing to do that and even bringing me back on his show for a LIVE one-hour interview about the Atkins diet in August 2005. You can read the entire transcript of that interview I did with him by clicking here.

Of course, Ralph is an equal opportunity radio talk show host and once challenged a local restaurant to come up with the world's largest hamburger when gigantic burgers were all over the news. He pulled it off with this amazing 19-pound hamburger that set a new world record! Gotta love that Ralphie!

One thing Ralph will always be remembered for is his ability to be original in a very unoriginal world. I say "remembered" because he is leaving the Upstate of South Carolina where he has grown fans from towns like Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and more with his golden voice and firm stands on the issues. He's gonna be moving up in the world to the Nashville, Tennessee market to become a morning show host.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ralph Bristol and I wish him all the best in his new career path. The Nashville market won't know what hit 'em until they get a load of Ralph, so get ready Tennessee! Bristolmania is about to ensue! :D

If I could just say one thing to this man, it would a warm and hearty THANK YOU! You quite literally were a part of the reason I am alive and healthy today. Had it not been for your contest, I don't know if I could have made it to the end of 2004 nearly half of my original weight. It was and will always be my greatest accomplishment and I have YOU to thank for it, Ralph!

So, I guess what I'm saying is thanks for changing my life, Ralph Bristol. I found a diet plan that works for me and I'm still sticking to it some three years later. No matter what happens to you when you get to Nashville, you will ALWAYS have this badge of honor from your days here in South Carolina. Jimmy Moore may not be the "Slim Jim" he is today without your contest.

Goodbye Ralph and THANK YOU for giving me my life back! God bless you!

Jimmy Moore Tells All About His Low-Carb Diet Weight Loss On Atlanta Radio Show

My interview with "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" Sunday was so much fun

One of the unique opportunities that I have the pleasure of doing from time to time is appearing as a guest or feature in various media outlets. I've had the privilege of being interviewed in various places across the country on television, radio, blogs, newspapers, and the like so much now that I actually feel comfortable doing this format extemporaneously with no preparation whatsoever. When you live it, then it just flows out of you naturally.

So how about it, Maury Povich? Regis Philbin? Jay Leno? Oprah Winfrey? I've got a real story to tell and rest assured "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Man" will certainly keep it entertaining for you, I can promise you that! :D

I guess people are intrigued by characters like Jimmy Moore who successfully lose half their weight and then keep it off for good. That's exactly why the Atlanta, GA-based "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" radio show interviewed me on Sunday night. What's funny is I almost didn't make it on the show because I forgot to call in at the appointed time. OOPS! My Internet service provider was acting funny all day on Sunday (Charter was offline for nearly eight hours!) and my day was totally thrown off as a result.

So I was sitting in my living room around 7:15pm Sunday night right in the middle of watching the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" (wickedly funny film that is totally worth the price of admission just to see Meryl Streep in the lead role--GET THE DVD!) when my phone rings with a frantic person on the other end asking "Where are you?" After a couple of seconds of wondering who in the world was asking me that question, I bopped my head like the V-8 commercials and said, "Oh yeah, the interview. Sorry! I'm ready to go, though!"

Seconds later, I was on WGSR-AM in Atlanta LIVE with Dr. Adam Shafran (aka "Dr. Fitness") and Lee Kantor (aka "The Fat Guy"). They also had in the studio a model and actress who simply goes by the name of Kathie. She just finished work as body double for Alyssa Milano in a commercial and her feet and legs appear in a lot of advertisements you have seen. Check out her amazing reality show called "Real Savvy Moms" which she just completed filming last week in New York.

Listen NOW to the replay podcast of the entire March 25, 2007 episode of my appearance on "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" by CLICKING HERE. My segment is the first one after their opening monologue. You'll hear them say they "hope" Jimmy Moore will be coming up after the break. That's because I freaked them out by not calling on time. Mea culpa!

What an awesome show it was and they made it engaging, entertaining, and a downright good time! These guys definitely know how to have fun and now have me longing to find some co-hosts to join me on my own podcast show now. Probably won't happen, but I guess you could call me the doctor fitness and former fat guy all rolled into one now. :D

The questions they hurled my way were quite intriguing and I was all-too-happy to share openly and honestly (as I always try to do!) about my experiences livin' la vida low-carb. In fact, at one point during the interview, they asked so many questions in a row that I completely forgot the question and asked, "Now what was the original question again?" Hee hee! I suppose that happens when you get three people all asking the guest to talk. Nevertheless, I did my best!

They describe my "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog as "the best blog in the low-carb world...the one stop shop for all things low-carb." COOL! THANKS guys! And they couldn't get over my former fettish for Little Debbie snack cakes which I went into great detail explaining as well as my previous Coca-Cola addiction before my nearly 200-pound weight loss. Listen to the show and hear all the dirty secrets about my life as a 400+ pound slob of a man.

The hosts of "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" hard at work behind the mike

Be sure to visit their popular podcast show, the companion blog (which they asked for my advice about improving since mine is so successful), and the official web site for "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy." What amazing resources for people living a healthy lifestyle and I was privileged to be a part of their fantastic show.

They were so thrilled by my energetic presentation about livin' la vida low-carb that I was invited back for another interview in the future. We will DEFINITELY have to do that (maybe when I release my next book...very soon!). Let me know what you thought of the interview and be sure to let "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" know how much we appreciate their willingness to host a low-carber on their program. :) Send them feedback by e-mailing them today. THANK YOU!

Atlanta-Based 'Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy' Radio Show To Interview Jimmy Moore

Dr. Adam Shafran and Lee Kantor are "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy"

Have you heard about this great radio show/podcast that's happening down in Atlanta, Georgia called "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" featuring hosts Dr. Adam Shafran and Lee Kantor? If not, then you really should see for yourself the outstanding work these two are doing to promote healthy living in a fun and exciting way. I've always tried to make weight loss and getting fit as engaging and entertaining as possible here at my blog and on my own podcast show, so I'm glad to see this same philosophy being implored by others.

I wanted to let you know about this show because they have invited me to be their special call-in guest to appear LIVE on the program on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at around 7:15pm EST on WGSR 710AM. If you live in or around the Atlanta metropolitan area, then I'd love to have you tune in to "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" to hear me talk about the positive benefits of livin' la vida low-carb! WOO HOO!

While I do have quite a few readers who hail from the Atlanta area, I realize most of you do not. Not to fear, though, because through the magic of the World Wide Web, you will have access to the show LIVE as it is happening. All you need is iTunes on your computer and you'll be ready to go come 7:00pm EST on Sunday night. When you are ready to listen to WGSR in real time, just CLICK HERE and in seconds you will be listening (remember, don't click on that link until you are ready to tune into the show).

I'm looking forward to the 10-15 minute interview with "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" to share my 180-pound low-carb weight loss success story and my subsequent book, blogs, and podcast show with them. I've listened to several of their past shows already and was struck by the incredible chemistry between Dr. Shafran and Kantor which is absolutely perfect for what they are doing to help people get interested in the subject of health and fitness--not an easy task to accomplish! But they pull it off quite nicely.

In addition to their awesome web site, be sure to take a look at their blog and even listen to previous shows so you can get an idea of what "Dr Fitness And The Fat Guy" is all about. Both are very opinionated and aren't afraid to tell you what they think--does that remind you of anyone? Hmm, I wonder. :D

Be sure to drop a quick e-mail to both Dr. Shafran and Lee for having me on their super show. It's nice to know there are STILL people in this world advocating a healthy lifestyle these days who aren't misinforming people about the low-carb nutritional approach by calling it a dangerous fad that is unhealthy. Their willingness to have Mr. "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" Man Jimmy Moore appear on their show is proof "Dr. Fitness And The Fat Guy" don't buy into that nonsense. We should applaud leaders like these in health and fitness every chance we can get! Let's show 'em the love from the low-carb community, shall we? :)

And be sure to sign up for their FREE Partner Power Weight Loss Program eNewsletter as well as pick up a copy of their January 2005 book release from the same publisher who did my book--Booklocker.com--called You Can't Lose Weight Alone. From what I have seen, the theme of their book is focused on "lifestyle change" which is something you hear me talk about all the time. So check it out!

Let me know what you thought of the show if you decide to listen on Sunday night! :)

'Livin' La Vida Low-Carb' The Radio Show?

Can you envision a low-carb talk radio show? It could happen!

I have some exciting news to share with today as well as a challenge to any business that believes in the principles of livin' la vida low-carb and the work I am doing here at my blog.

Ever since I first started writing at the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog, my vision was to take the low-carb message well beyond the borders of my little corner of the Internet into places where people can get educated, inspired and encouraged to start doing something about their weight and health. That's why I decided to get involved with LowCarbNewsline.com, CommonVoice.com, CarbWire.com, WLTips.com, WeightLossBuddy.com, and HealthHacksPodcast.com, among other projects. These involvements keep me VERY busy, but my sights have always been on something bigger than the Internet.

Well, that opportunity may have just presented itself to me today in the form of something that sounds extremely exciting to me--"Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" The Radio Show! You heard me right. The local powerhouse radio station in the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC radio market has offered me a half-hour or one-hour show to talk about issues of health, diet and nutrition. They were so impressed with what I have done at my blog that they wanted to give me a chance to take it to the radio. Plus, they do not currently have ANYONE talking about this subject at any point during the week.

The open slot is from 6:00-7:00am on Saturday mornings and they will pretty much let me run the show as I see fit. They want it be information-driven with me discussing the latest research and health articles from my unique perspective as a low-carber with open telephone lines for people to call in with their questions and comments. I did a little Christian radio back in the 1990's and hosted a weekly countdown show, so I'm familiar with broadcasting from that experience.

I don't know about you, but this is a HUGE open door to have the message of livin' la vida low-carb go out across the airwaves in a rare opportunity in the year 2006. The radio station is unconcerned about the supposed "dangers" of the low-carb lifestyle and instead like the way I present information about weight loss and healthy living.

But...(you knew there was one of these somewhere, didn't you?)

The only problem is that I need sponsors for the show. Radio may be free to the listeners, but it does cost money to be on the air. Therefore, I am looking for enthusiastic businesses who are willing to step up and support a program like this. This really is unprecedented for a local station to have a "low-carb" radio show when low-carb is supposed to be dead.

I would love to see the show do so well that they have to move it to a better time slot and maybe even get offers to have it syndicated in other markets. Call me a dreamer, but I can see that happening if the right elements come together. But getting my foot in the door to be on the radio to talk about what we all agree is one of the most important issues of our time is the very first step and something I couldn't pass up.

Each show costs $350 for a half-hour segment, so basically $700 for the one-hour show. I'm looking for sponsors who would like to have their businesses featured on the program in a live spot during the show. If you are the owner or decision-maker at your company and think this is a good marketing decision for your company, then please contact me ASAP at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. Please provide me the name of your company, the contact person I need to speak with, a telephone number, and a brief description of the company or products you would like featured on the show.

I will also agree to provide a link and logo at my blog under a "Radio Sponsors" listing to show the people visiting my web site who is helping me bring the radio show to the airwaves. It will also allow the people listening to the show to find the advertisers easier when I point them to visit the "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blog.

Like I said, this show could build up into something so big and outstanding for the sake of low-carb that I am looking for people who share that same vision to take this message to the world in any way that we can. Yes, even a radio show!

I welcome your thoughts and comments about the prospect of this show.
